Flex Arm & Ball Joint Guide
Nocturnal Lights carries two different arm systems from which you can attach your lights to your tray (or housing): the Flex Arm system and the Ball Joint system.
Nocturnal Lights' SLX and TLX series come with a removable lantern handle that has a 5/16" (8 mm) hole that can be used to attach a Flex Arm adapter, Ball Joint adapter, or a Hybrid adapter.
To use Nocturnal Lights' Flex Arm system with your SLX or TLX light, connect either a Flex Arm adapter or a Hybrid adapter (with the YS mount side facing outwards) to the handle that came with your SLX or TLX light. After doing so, simply remove the screw mechanism from the YS mount, slide in your Flex Arm, then screw the mechanism back in, securing the Flex Arm in place. When using our Flex Arms, you can use a Flex Arm Extension to lengthen your Flex Arm or connect a Flex Arm to another Flex Arm Extension.
To use Nocturnal Lights' Ball Joint system with your SLX or TLX light, connect either a Ball Joint adapter or a Hybrid adapter (with the Ball Joint side facing outwards) to the handle that came with your SLX or TLX light. From here, you can use either a standard clamp or triple clamp to connect your light and Ball Joint arms together. Ball Joint arms come in different lengths (three, five, eight, twelve, and sixteen inches).
Both the Flex Arm and Ball joint system connect to our tray and t-base system. Our trays come in three different lengths: eight inches, ten inches, and twelve inches. Our t-bases are available in three forms: for 5mm screws, for 10/32" screws, and for 1/4" screws. Our Flex Arm systems connects to our trays using an attached t-base adapter. Our Ball Joint system connects similarly, with the difference that a special ball joint adapter is needed to connect the Ball Joint system to the tray.
Please do take into consideration some brand-name manufacturers produce housings that allow users to connect our t-bases directly onto the housing. If your housing is such a housing, you do not need a tray.
